TB PCR

TB PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) হলো একটি molecular test যা শরীরে Mycobacterium tuberculosis–এর DNA সরাসরি শনাক্ত করে। তাই এটি rapid, highly sensitive, and specific টেস্ট—বিশেষ করে যখন দ্রুত TB নিশ্চিত করা দরকার।

🔍 Why is TB PCR done?

এই টেস্ট করা হয় যখন:

• কাশি, জ্বর, ওজন কমা, রাতের ঘাম—TB সন্দেহ

• Sputum smear negative কিন্তু TB সন্দেহ রয়ে গেছে

• Extra-pulmonary TB (pleural fluid, CSF, lymph node, urine)

• শিশু, বয়স্ক, বা immunocompromised patient

• Early confirmation before starting treatment

🧬 How TB PCR works?

PCR মেশিন TB জীবাণুর DNA amplify করে। অল্প জীবাণু থাকলেও DNA detect হয়।

Smear-এ জীবাণু না দেখালেও PCR positive হতে পারে।

• Dead bacilli থাকলেও কিছু ক্ষেত্রে DNA detect হতে পারে (recent treatment history জানাতে হবে)
