Blood Culture (Aerobic BACTEC) হলো একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ laboratory test যা রক্তে জীবাণু (bacteria) আছে কিনা তা শনাক্ত করার জন্য করা হয়। বিশেষ করে যখন রোগীর উচ্চ জ্বর, সেপসিস (Sepsis), বা গুরুতর সংক্রমণের সন্দেহ থাকে, তখন এই পরীক্ষা অত্যন্ত প্রয়োজনীয়।

🔬 What is Blood Culture (Aerobic BACTEC)?

Blood culture হলো এমন একটি পরীক্ষা যেখানে রোগীর রক্ত বিশেষ culture bottle-এ নেওয়া হয় এবং bacteria growth আছে কিনা তা পরীক্ষা করা হয়।
BACTEC system একটি automated advanced machine, যা দ্রুত এবং নির্ভুলভাবে bacterial growth detect করতে পারে।

👉 “Aerobic” মানে এই test-এ এমন bacteria খোঁজা হয়, যারা oxygen-এর উপস্থিতিতে বেঁচে থাকে।

Doctors এই test পরামর্শ দেন যদি রোগীর মধ্যে নিচের লক্ষণগুলো থাকে:

• উচ্চ জ্বর (High fever)

• কাঁপুনি সহ জ্বর (Fever with chills)

⚙️ How the Test is Performed?

1️⃣ রোগীর vein থেকে sterile condition-এ রক্ত সংগ্রহ করা হয়।
2️⃣ রক্ত BACTEC aerobic bottle-এ দেওয়া হয়।
3️⃣ Bottle machine-এ রাখা হয়।
4️⃣ Machine continuous monitoring করে bacterial growth আছে কিনা detect করে।

যদি bacteria বৃদ্ধি পায়, machine signal দেয়।

• Preliminary report: 24–48 ঘণ্টা

• Final report with sensitivity: 3–5 দিন
