What is Culture Fluid Test?

Culture Fluid হলো একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ microbiology test যেখানে শরীরের বিভিন্ন ধরনের fluid (যেমন pleural fluid, ascitic fluid, synovial fluid, CSF, pus ইত্যাদি) থেকে সংক্রমণকারী জীবাণু (bacteria, fungus) শনাক্ত করা হয়।

In simple terms, this test helps detect infection inside body fluids.

বাংলায় বললে, শরীরের ভেতরের তরলে যদি কোনো জীবাণু সংক্রমণ হয়ে থাকে, Culture Fluid টেস্টের মাধ্যমে তা নির্ণয় করা যায়।

🏥 Why is Culture Fluid Important?

Body fluid infection untreated থাকলে serious complication হতে পারে। তাই সঠিক সময়ে culture করলে সঠিক antibiotic শুরু করা যায়।

This test is recommended in cases of:

✔ Fever of unknown origin
✔ Suspected internal infection
✔ Fluid accumulation in chest or abdomen
✔ Joint swelling with pain
✔ Pus formation

🧫 Types of Fluids Tested

Culture Fluid can be done for:

• Pleural Fluid (lungs এর চারপাশের তরল)

• Ascitic Fluid (পেটের ভিতরের তরল)

• Synovial Fluid (জয়েন্টের তরল)

• Pericardial Fluid (হৃদযন্ত্রের চারপাশের তরল)

• CSF (মস্তিষ্কের তরল)

• Pus / Abscess Fluid

🧪 How is Sample Collected?

Sample collection depends on fluid type:

• Needle aspiration (thoracentesis, paracentesis, joint aspiration)

• Sterile syringe collection

• Collected in sterile container

Important: Sample must be sent to lab immediately to avoid contamination.

• Candida

❌ Growth Present

Infection confirmed.
Lab will perform Antibiotic Sensitivity Test to determine best treatment.

• Preliminary result: 24–48 hours

• Final report: 48–72 hours

• Fungal / TB culture may take longer
