Vaginal Swab for Culture & Sensitivity পরীক্ষা প্রধানত মহিলাদের vaginal infections শনাক্ত করার জন্য ব্যবহৃত হয়। এই পরীক্ষায় bacteria, yeast (fungi), বা other pathogens খুঁজে বের করা হয় এবং কোন antibiotic বা antifungal ওষুধের প্রতি সংবেদনশীল তা নির্ধারণ করা হয়।
যদি রোগীর মধ্যে abnormal vaginal discharge, itching, burning sensation, বা odor থাকে, ডাক্তার এই পরীক্ষা সুপারিশ করতে পারেন। Culture & Sensitivity পরীক্ষার মাধ্যমে সঠিক ওষুধ নির্বাচন করা যায়, যা সাধারণ empirical treatment থেকে অনেক বেশি কার্যকর।
Procedure: ডাক্তার বা ল্যাব টেকনিশিয়ান sterile swab ব্যবহার করে vaginal canal থেকে sample সংগ্রহ করেন। পরে ল্যাবরেটরিতে sample culture করা হয় এবং বিভিন্ন antibiotic বা antifungal এর প্রতি pathogen এর sensitivity পরীক্ষা করা হয়।
Note: এই পরীক্ষা সাধারণত pain-free ও outpatient procedure। পরীক্ষা শুরু করার আগে recent antibiotic বা antifungal ব্যবহার না করা বেশি সঠিক ফলাফল নিশ্চিত করে।
