Z.N. Stain (AFB) of FNAC Material পরীক্ষা মূলত suspected tuberculosis (TB) in lymph nodes, lumps, বা other lesions শনাক্ত করার জন্য করা হয়। এখানে AFB (Acid-Fast Bacilli), বিশেষ করে Mycobacterium tuberculosis, FNAC material থেকে খুঁজে বের করা হয়।
FNAC (Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology) হলো একটি minimally invasive technique, যেখানে suspect lump বা swelling থেকে needle দ্বারা sample সংগ্রহ করা হয়। Sample থেকে Z.N. stain ব্যবহার করে microscope এ AFB খোঁজা হয়।
যদি রোগীর মধ্যে persistent lymph node swelling, painless lump, fever, বা unexplained weight loss থাকে, ডাক্তার এই পরীক্ষা নির্দেশ করতে পারেন। Z.N. stain rapid preliminary detection দেয় TB এর জন্য, তবে culture বা PCR confirmatory হিসেবে প্রয়োজন হতে পারে।
Procedure: FNAC করে needle aspiration দ্বারা sample সংগ্রহ করা হয়। Smear তৈরি করে Ziehl–Neelsen (Z.N.) staining দ্বারা AFB microscopic examination করা হয়। AFB positive হলে Mycobacterium tuberculosis এর উপস্থিতি নির্দেশ করে।
Note: একবারের smear সবসময় নিশ্চিত নাও হতে পারে। প্রায়শই multiple smears বা culture সঙ্গে মিলিয়ে diagnosis নিশ্চিত করা হয়।
