🧪 ASCITIC FLUID CULTURE & SENSITIVITY (ANY OTHER)

Ascitic Fluid Culture & Sensitivity (C/S) একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ laboratory test যা পেটে জমে থাকা তরলে (Ascitic fluid) কোন bacterial বা fungal infection আছে কিনা তা শনাক্ত করতে সাহায্য করে। এছাড়া কোন antibiotic সবচেয়ে কার্যকর হবে সেটিও নির্ধারণ করে।

এই test বিশেষভাবে করা হয় যখন Ascites with infection বা Spontaneous Bacterial Peritonitis (SBP) সন্দেহ করা হয়।

🔍 What is Ascitic Fluid?

Ascitic fluid হলো পেটের ভেতরে (peritoneal cavity) জমে থাকা অস্বাভাবিক তরল।

Common causes of ascites:

• Liver cirrhosis

• Chronic liver disease

• Tuberculosis

• Cancer

• Heart failure

• Severe infection

যদি এই তরলে জীবাণু সংক্রমণ হয়, তাহলে দ্রুত diagnosis এবং treatment প্রয়োজন।

1️⃣ Culture

Fluid sample laboratory-তে বিশেষ media-তে রাখা হয় যাতে bacteria বা fungus grow করতে পারে।

2️⃣ Sensitivity

যদি জীবাণু পাওয়া যায়, তাহলে কোন antibiotic সেই জীবাণুর বিরুদ্ধে সবচেয়ে ভালো কাজ করবে তা পরীক্ষা করা হয়।

🧫 Sample Collection Procedure

• Procedure called Paracentesis
